Students from Ethiopia and Syria saw the production of aluminium in Volgograd

29.04.2019

Students of the school №86 and students of the faculty of foreign specialists’ training of Volgograd State Technical University visited Volgograd aluminium plant of the company RUSAL within the framework of the “week without turnstiles”. On the excursion the guests studied the whole process of getting aluminium from electrolysis cell to the distribution centre, from where ingots are sent to the final customer. At the casting department students got the possibility to see how hot melted aluminium is poured into a special casting mixer: at this stage various components are added to the liquid metal to get special types of finished alloy.

Special part of the program was the excursion to the laboratory of 3D modeling where they could see how any detail can be cast from a special alloy, having made its shape in advance, using the latest technologies.

- I liked everything here, said Abo Shakra William a student from Syria sharing his impressions – For eight years I worked at the aluminium plant in my native country, that’s why it was interesting for me to compare particularities of manufacturing process in Russia and in our country.

Student from Ethiopia Bogale Muluken Asamneu was nearly interested in electrotechnical production support while Vietnamese students were very attentively studying computerization of the processes.

Schoolchildren asked questions about the areas of aluminium consumption and working conditions at the enterprise.

According to the words of the leaders of Volgograd aluminium plant excursions to the enterprise are popular both among schoolchildren and students as well as among journalists, public authorities, business leaders and representatives of city social organizations. Only over the past year more than 300 people visited this industrial site.
