 Foreign students of the flagship university have celebrated International Mother Language Day

On February 21 foreign students from Syria, Yemen, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Angola, Ghana, Bangladesh have celebrated Mother Language Day on the interactive lecture, given by professor of the Russian language - Anna Valerievna Dikareva. The purpose of the holiday, established by UNESCO in February 2000, was to protect linguistic and cultural diversity existing in the world.

According to the estimates of UNESCO, from 6 thousand world languages only 500 can rest on the Earth by the middle of the century. State programmes are established in many countries in order to protect national languages. Such a programme exists also in the Russian Federation. Annual International Mother Language Day reminds that it is important to protect language diversity, which is cultural heritage of mankind.
