The “JuniorActive” Project: the young engineers visited VSTU

The fifth-grade pupils of the engineering form from “Svetloyrskaya School №1” visited VSTU on the 25th of November. The engineering form was organized within the framework of the strategic project “JuniorActive” of Volgograd Flagship University Development Program. The project is aimed at the formation, development and support of the system of the teenagers and children’s research and technical (engineering) creativity in Volgograd and Volgograd District.
The pupils felt like the real prospective students of VSTU. They were interested in the acquaintance with the Admission Committee of the University, Yuri Levin’s presentation of the areas and perspectives of the professional career and the nice gifts. Then the pupils visited the History and Science Museum of VSTU where the Head of the Museum Svetlana Mishta showed them the expositions dedicated to the pre-war, war and post-war periods of the formation and development of VSTU.
After “entering the University”, the pupils started the study and the Associate Professor of the Chair “Electrical Engineering” Alexander Shilin told them about the particularities of the construction of the electrical transmission networks. The young engineers found out about the principles of the work of the electrical machines and participated in the laboratory work in the research of the regimes of functioning of the electric chains.
The pupils spent an interesting day at VSTU and visited the Panorama Museum “Stalingrad Battle”.
